The Story of Leaving Egypt
For a long time, the Israelites were slaves in Egypt. God chose Moses to lead them to freedom. After God sent ten plagues, Pharaoh finally let them go. But then he changed his mind and chased after them with his army.
The Israelites were scared when they saw the sea in front of them and Pharaoh's army behind them. But Moses told them, "Don't be afraid. Stand firm and you will see how the Lord will save you today" (Exodus 14:13).
God Opens a Path
As the Egyptians got closer, God told Moses to hold his hand out over the sea. Then something amazing happened! The waters split apart, making a dry path for the Israelites to walk through.
After they were safely across, the waters came back together, stopping the Egyptian army. Can you imagine seeing this happen? The Israelites must have been so amazed and thankful. This shows us that even when things look really bad, God can still help us.
